Cityscape Qatar paves the way to success in the Middle East.
13 April 2017
Last month, Select Portfolio representatives Georgina Reilly, Operations Director, and Lee Griffiths, Agent Network Manager, headed to Qatar for the Cityscape Real Estate Investment Show. The trip was undertaken to examine the potential for business in this part of the world and increase their knowledge of the local market with the view of building relationships with clients and agents in Doha and other areas of the UAE and the Middle East.
“Although we have had a partnership with a broker in Dubai and have been selling into the Middle East for a few years now, our energy has primarily gone into other locations so the show marked our renewed commitment to this area.” Lee commented.
The main emphasis for us was on our UK product range, such as hotel and care investments, however, we were also looking to promote the citizenship and residency products available in Europe and the Caribbean.
“Our citizenship product generated serious interest and we are already in discussions with an agent regarding St Kitts citizenship for one of his clients.” Georgina says.
Now in its sixth year in Doha, Cityscape is one of eight shows which take place across the Middle East aimed at bringing together investors, developers, homebuyers, government officials and real estate professionals. This is the perfect backdrop to meet like-minded professionals and serious property investors and an ideal place to start gathering information on this flourishing market.
Overall our visit was a great success, Georgina reveals:
“We had three main objectives: assess the quality and footfall of Cityscape Qatar for future exhibitions as exhibitors; introduce citizenship offering to some of our agents; look at other investment and project offerings with other developers / agents particularly projects in Dubai and gain a greater understanding of the market.
We were successful in all three areas. We gained a great insight into the market and confirmed our wish to exhibit at the Cityscape shows in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. At the same time, generating more interest from the Middle East for citizenship and other international products is also very important.”
This is an opinion echoed by Lee Griffiths.
“It was a very interesting research trip for us that also resulted in several purchases from new investors, which was a welcome addition. There is a lot of interest from investors for the UK, Spain, Cyprus and Turkey which we are looking to harness and my priority is to establish key agent relationships within the region to take advantage of this. ”
Due to the success of this visit we have now confirmed our participation at the next Cityscape show taking place in Abu Dhabi from 18-20 April. We will be sharing a booth with one of our key partners, Qualia Developments, to promote our care home products and two representatives from our UK office will be on hand to meet with prospective clients face-to-face and offer their assistance with the investment opportunities on offer.
This is truly an exciting time for Select Portfolio as we develop our relationships with the Middle East further and increase interest in all areas of our investment offerings.
If you're interested in visiting us at the show we will be at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre from 18-20 April on booth 6D30. Limited free tickets to the show are available, so let us know if you would like to attend.
