Didim Property: a Powerful Package
21 April 2011
Property in Didim has become increasingly attractive over the last couple of years since the opening of the new $50 million marina in September 2009. Dogus Marina, which has capacity for 1100 yachts, turned Didim into a year round resort, and construction and development have increased accordingly.
Didim is just forty one miles away from the Greek island of Samos, which opened its own marina shortly before Didim vastly increasing investment into the region.
Benefiting from its own microclimate consisting of hundreds of days of sunshine every year, Didim is a genuinely attractive area with beautiful sandy beaches, and a plethora of ancient ruins to explore. It is easily accessible from Bodrum and Izmir airports and has a good infrastructure.
Didim first became popular with property buyers in the 1980's, when families from Ankara who had holidayed there for generations began purchasing holiday homes. The British invasion has been ongoing since the turn of the century, and UK buyers are now so prevalent that utility bills are printed in English as well as Turkish.
Property can be purchased in Didim for as little as £19,000 and rising tourism levels in the region mean there is good opportunity for rental income. The Turkish property market still has significant potential for growth, especially in developing resorts like Didim.
