St Kitts Celebrates 30 Years of Independence
12 November 2013
Select Resorts was honoured to be invited by His Excellency Dr Kevin Isaac to an evening cocktail event on 31st October, held by the Federation of St Kitts and Nevis. The event was attended by Natalie Windsor, Property Sales Manager, on behalf of Select Resorts.
This was a prestigious event, held at the St Kitts High Commission and attended by the Prime Minister, Denzil Douglas, and His Excellency Dr Kevin Isaac. This is a particularly special year for St Kitts and Nevis, due to it being their 30th year anniversary of Independence, celebrated under the theme “Stability, Creativity and Prosperity”.
St Kitts and Nevis officially celebrated the 30th Anniversary of Independence on the 19th September, marking the anniversary with numerous activities celebrating and showcasing the nation’s culture. It also gave a chance to reflect on the progress St Kitts and Nevis has made over the past thirty years.
Partners, supporters and friends of the Federation of St Kitts and Nevis had an enjoyable evening which included a fantastic speech by the Prime Minister highlighting the benefits of the Citizenship by Investment programme, which is the oldest of its kind in the world. He then went on to explain why this programme was introduced, namely to attract investors to make substantial investments which benefit the development of the country.
The Citizenship by Investment programme has proven to be so successful that Antigua and Barbuda have since introduced similar programmes. The programme in St Kitts is now one of their primary sources of economic activity, allowing St Kitts to continue to grow and develop, making great improvements on a regular basis.
Many of the developers that Select Resorts have been working alongside for many years also attended the event – offering an opportunity to catch up with partners and check on the progress of developments.
Natalie explained that she “was honoured to meet the PM and to be invited to the celebration”. She went on to comment that, “as Select Resorts Properties is an independent agent, it means we can give impartial advice and will always find the right property for our clients.”
Select Resorts also attended the Savills Caribbean event recently, which sought to highlight and promote the best of Caribbean real-estate. It is clear from both events that the Caribbean is certainly one to watch for those currently looking to invest.
